About Bregga Tedy

I majored in Computer Science at the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) Surabaya, Indonesia. I interested in building my own app but I didn’t know where to start, so I went to TopCoder and 99design to learn design. I freelance there as a UI/UX designer for nearly two years.

I balanced my day job with personal creative work, like design apps, writing articles and sharing knowledge about UX design, which garnered attention from a few software studios. Eventually, I got offers from more established Startups, so I decided to strengthen their design team. This allowed me to work on other cool projects, from top brands to local indie startups.

My creative approach—no matter the medium—is to find points of tension behind the idea I’ve been assigned or am interested in. I do several iterations on each point and usually end up refining the one I find most controversial.

For me, controversy isn’t about instigation, but rather, a way to test how useful the product in user’s hands. It’s a way to plant a little bit of emotion in their perspective; as I learn more about the product. Ultimately, it’s about creating memorable experiences.

My Journey

2021 - Present

Mekari is a SaaS company that provides cloud-based business automation solutions to support the development of various businesses in Indonesia, from small to large, through the use of technology.

Besides day-to-day task to design more feature for Mekari Jurnal, I help product team create reusable components and maintain our unified design system (now Pixel 2.0) to enable Mekari products deploy faster, but still consistent for all of our development teams to use.

2018 - 2021

A Job Thing is a Malaysian IT company that provides recruitment solutions, especially for the non-executive job market. We are the company behind AJobThing.com, MauKerja.my, Ricebowl.my, Maukerja.id and many more — we're one of the top platforms for employers and job seekers.

I work with the design team of 3 for various products. I responsible for Maukerja, Ricebowl, and Intersheep Apps. Both Responsive Website and Mobile Apps. Delivering and testing design and prototypes for Android, iOS, Responsive Web. Conducting user research. Working with PMs, engineers, and stakeholders to define features. And monitors its feedbacks and success metrics.

2017 - 2018

Binar academy fosters and inspires passionate people by transmitting practical knowledge and extraordinary experiences. Through collaborative learning and competency development, we are preparing the future generation to excel at a much higher level.

I am grateful enough to have the opportunity shared my experiences by taught a UX Designer Class. What seperate Binar from other education class is the students require no specific academic background. They’ll learn to create digital products from the scratch. Also career opportunities with large network in digital industry.

2017 - 2018

uxmarker product design advisory, was founded with one mission mind: creating the best and most reliable user-centered design for our clients.

I led the design team of 5 to created a streamlined design for various products. Reviwed clients' briefed and create a design from scratch or improved their existing design. The projects varies from apps to website and I presented the deliverables in weekly basis.

2016 - 2017

The start-up is part of 1000 Startup Digital Program which Indonesian goverment initiates the program to accelerate Indonesia’s Start-up Environtment.

I designed, tested, and conducted user research for last-minute-deals application that market restaurant's excess food stock with real-time potential customers.

Aftertale Studio is a design team dedicated to help brands and companies to craft the best experience for their digital products.

I am responsible to produce high quality visual designs — from concept to execution, including those for web and mobile devices at a variety of resolutions (icons, graphics, and marketing materials).

2015 - Present

It's awesome to be a freelancer. While freelancing comes with many benefits, the single best reason for me is it will sharpen my creativity. With various projects and clients, I learn more and always trying to understand what the clients truly wants. And, It’s not easy.
